“You can’t change everything all at once. But every little positive change you make is good.”
Tamasin Rankin knows that living a healthy lifestyle can be complicated for many people, or overwhelming.
Tamasin is GEGAC’s new Healthy Lifestyles Worker, and her role is to help local people (and GEGAC staff) find improvements in the way they eat, exercise, live and work that make them healthier, and ultimately happier.
Born and raised in Bairnsdale, Tamasin returns to her home community after a few years in Cairns where she completed a Bachelor’s of Medical Science, focusing on nutrition.
“Just give it a try. Make an appointment for the Tuesday clinic, sit down with me and we’ll talk. That’s all you need to do to get started.”

And while nutrition and good food is one of the key pillars in helping people live healthier lives, Tamasin is keen to point out it’s not the only thing.
“It’s holistic,” she says. “And it’s different for every person. How and what you eat relates to what you do at work, how much exercise you do, your age, your culture – it’s about your whole life. My role is to help people understand the balance, and make changes that accept and respect that balance.”
Tamasin has started a healthy lifestyle clinic on Tuesdays between 10am – 3pm, to provide individualised consultations for people on making healthy changes in their life.
The clinic is for anyone that wants to create a healthier lifestyle for themselves or their loved ones.
That includes things like meal and exercise plans, but also other things people can do to improve their health.
To enquire about the Tuesday healthy lifestyle clinic or to make an appointment, call GEGAC Medical Reception on 5150 0760.
“The hardest part is starting,” Tamasin says. “Accepting that something needs to change, and reaching out to someone to help you.”
Her advice? “Just give it a try. Make an appointment for the Tuesday clinic, sit down with me and we’ll talk. That’s all you need to do to get started.”
