Here in Gippsland, we have such a strong community when it comes to sports.

As it comes to the end of the football and netball seasons, we congratulate our mob on the success they produce time and time again.

Here at GEGAC, we notice the amazing effort and grit that our community has shown in this year’s football and netball competitions.

Loads of our community had been invited to the league vote count for both the East Gippsland Football Netball League and the Omeo District Football Netball League, where some won awards.

Some also won awards at their own club’s awards night.

Omeo League

Netball

Danielle Ryan at Swan Reach – won A Grade League Best and Fairest (B&F).

Jemma Wilkinson at Bruthen – 3rd for B Grade in the league, and B grade club runner up

Tiah Hood at Bruthen – Club B&F for Junior Netball

Hannah Calvert at Bruthen – Runner Up Club B&F

Football

Alex Saunders at Swan Reach – Runner Up League B&F

Max Solomon at Swan Reach – Leading goal kicker for Omeo League with 59 goals             

East Gippsland League

Netball

Alana Solomon at Wy Yung – D Grade League B&F and highest goal scorer across the league in D Grade with 276 goals for the season

Kita Hayes at Wy Yung – 3rd in D Grade League B&F

Harriet Campbell at Lucknow – Runner up League B&F for 17’s netball

Peter Harrison at Lindenow – League B&F (Ineligible due to being reported) for the 3rds and also won the leading goal kicker with 78 goals.

Caleb Calwyn at Boisdale Briag – Leading goal kicker in the seniors with 72 goals

The Omeo League Grand Final is this Saturday at the Buchan Recreation Reserve, featuring a lot of our mob across a wide range of grades and ages.

So, make sure to go show your support, and in advance we wish these players who are in the Grand Finals good luck.
