A multipurpose building that could be used for community gatherings and other events is being floated as a possible new addition to GEGAC’s Dalmahoy Street site in the coming years.
The proposal for a multipurpose event space, as well as expansions of the current Medical Centre and Boorai Child Care buildings, the Keeping Place, and other significant improvements at GEGAC, is being discussed as part of GEGAC’s Infrastructure Masterplan process, which is right now seeking community input and feedback.
The purpose of this Infrastructure Masterplan is to create a workable vision for what asset and infrastructure improvements GEGAC wants to make over the next 10 – 20 years, and form priorities and a plan to get there.
All community members wanting to learn more, or submit their feedback and suggestions, are encouraged to attend a Community Information Session in the HACC Meeting Room (Elders Lounge) at GEGAC on Thursday, November 16.
There will be a basic BBQ from 12 – 12:30pm, followed by a presentation by architecture firm Baldasso Cortese, and an open discussion and question time.

GEGAC’s Infrastructure and Property Development Manager, Luke Strickland, said it was important for community to note that these proposals are just ideas at this stage, and that nothing has been funded or set in stone.
“What we are doing at the moment is just gathering as much input and feedback as we can,” Luke said. “We want to know what the priorities are for community. This is your place – what changes and improvements do you want to see at GEGAC into the future?”
Also proposed has been the creation or expansion of facilities for Family Services, Family Violence & Children Youth Resources, Social and Emotional Wellbeing, Out of Home Care, and Elders Lounge.
“This is about creating the ability for GEGAC to grow, to produce more space for those things that are important to this community,” Luke said. “We want GEGAC to have the best, fit for purpose assets so it can do more.”
“At the same time, we know community has strong connections to a number of the structures and features here. By hearing from community what those important features are, what is important to them, we can work to incorporate those existing features into a vision for the future.”
Melbourne-based architectural studio, Baldasso Cortese, is working with GEGAC on the Infrastructure Masterplan process.
Baldasso Cortese worked on both the Dala Yooro Child Care and the Brabuwooloong Medical Centre projects at GEGAC, as well as Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-Operative’s Mooroopna and North Shepparton campuses.
