BRUS 12 Girls team won the Grand Final at VACSAL’s annual Statewide Aboriginal Basketball Classic on the weekend, and Marilyn Fenton was named Grand Final MVP.

If you wondered why there was no one in Bairnsdale this past weekend, that’s because pretty much our whole community was in Shepparton!

Bairnsdale Regional Unlimited Sports (BRUS) took a massive contingent of 12 junior and senior teams to Shep’ for VACSAL’s annual Statewide Aboriginal Basketball Classic, one of the biggest and best sports gatherings for mob on the calendar.

Despite high temperatures the carnival was a great success, with Aboriginal teams from all over the state coming together to compete and celebrate.

It was a great tournament for our local teams, with 5 teams making it to Grand Finals, and our Under 12s Girls team getting the win.

Congratulations to all the players for representing Bairnsdale to best of your ability, and a huge thank you to all the coaches, parents, organisers and supporters that made things happen behind the scenes.
